Diamond Peak

Diamond Peak and Sledding in Tahoe Meadows

Julia looking out onto Lake Tahoe.  She actually said she wanted to go swimming.  Um, no, I don't think so!

 Sledding!  Needed some shades!

It's Snowing!

Excited to See Snow!

Mt Rose

On the first full day in Tahoe, we went up to Mt Rose to check out the new snow.  Alex took a two hour lesson, which ended up being a one on one session and he really had fun and picked up from where he left off last year.  Julia and David practiced by the lodge and the Mt Rose photographer took this great shot of the two of them.

Fun in the Snow!

We went up to Incline Village last Thursday to spend some of Spring Break.  Although it had hardly snowed all winter, we got lucky and it snowed almost every day we were up there.  We had no expectations for snow at all, but it ended up that we had all kinds of fresh snow to play in.

Visit from Grandma

On Sunday we drove down to Emerald Bay with Grandma Elaine and Larry, who stopped over on their way back from Hawaii.  We stopped at Tahoe House Deli in Tahoe City for brunch and then drove down to Emerald Bay.  We had planned to take a hike down to Vikingsholm, but with the snow falling and only Hawaii type clothes, it wasn't quite the right day for it.  We will definitely be back to check it out, as it looked beautiful.  Alex enjoyed trying to catch snowflakes on his tongue, along with Grandma Elaine.

First Day on the Slopes

Tahoe Donner, the development where we stayed, has a great ski slope for kiddos, so Alex took lessons there for two days while we were up there.  David did lots of practice with him after lessons, going up on the magic carpet over and over again, with Alex on skis and David on his snowboard.  On the third day, they just did alot of practice runs and had a fun time.  By the second day he was doing great.  I'll post a video later. These photos are from the first day.  It was a beautiful day, with lots of sun and very mild temperatures.  Julia was really wishing that she could ski like her big brother and frequently would point at the chair lift, trying to get me to take her up for a ride.  Fortunately, they had one of the chairs set up as a swing, so that did appease  her somewhat.  We spent the rest of our time sliding down the hill sans sled.  She loved it!

Julia's First Snow Experience

Last Thursday we headed up to Tahoe Donner for a family winter vacation.  I didn't have the ability to download photos while we were there, so now there is a backlog of posts and pictures.  I'll be posting quite a few in the next couple of days.  Julia had never seen the snow before and Alex was quite excited to see snow, which was his "winter wish".  It has been quite warm the past few weeks, so alot of the snow had melted, but they did still have snow and luckily, before we left we were able to experience lots of fresh snow too!  The cabin which we rented had quite a large yard and there were a few hills which were fun to ride the sleds down.  Julia loved sledding and was sure to say "more" and "up" as soon as we got to the bottom of the hill.  You can see her little face in a couple of the sledding pictures and I think they say it all.
