Fun with Friends

On Sunday, we had a bunch of David's USC friends over for a get together, since Angela and Hai and their family were in town from Southern California.  We had a fun time eating, drinking and catching up.  All of the kiddos had a blast playing baseball and just getting to know one another.

Making Jam

The kids and I had fun making some peach jam out of some of the peach bounty from last week.  They were good helpers in the process and we ended up with some yummy jam sweetened with apple juice concentrate.  We used some of the jars to give to neighbors, since it has been a little loud at our house with demo noise this week.

Goofballs

One of Alex's school buddies came over for a playdate the other morning.  Alex had decided that he and Julia would wear their "Chinese outfits" and surprise Demetra.  While waiting, they had quite a little dance party and then had plenty of fun once she arrived as well.

Tomatoes

We have been harvesting some tomatoes and this week since we had quite a few, I decided to oven roast them with olive oil and salt at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes and then we put them on a pizza crust with pesto and mozzarella.  Yum!  They were so sweet and tangy.

Picking Peaches

Since it was nice and cool on Tuesday, I decided to take the kiddos to Brentwood to pick some peaches and plums.  It was the first day of the season for Elberta Fay peaches at Wolfe Ranch, so there were plenty of peaches to choose from.  We enjoyed strolling through the orchard, picked lots of peaches and plums, picked up some corn from a farmstand and then headed downtown to La Costa Taqueria for lunch.  No visit to Brentwood is complete without that!

Boysenberries

After trying to escape the heat too late on Saturday.  We decided to go to Half Moon Bay, but so did a LOT of other people, we ended up in Portola Valley picking boysenberries in almost 100 degree heat.  Needless to say, we picked about a pound and then took a spot in the shade to enjoy some drinks and our little picnic.  Not super refreshing, but the boysenberries tasted good on the sno cones later!
