Julia's Rat

After we got home last night, Julia was doing some drawing, while I was unpacking.  She proudly came over to me to show me her drawing.  A rat!

Last Thursday night, after we watched the sandhill cranes come in for the night, I needed to feed Julia before we started our trip back, so I gave Alex a sketch pad and some colored pencils and told him to do some sketching.  This is what he drew.  I thought it was quite a good interpretation of the events of the night.

Sketch

Alex and I watch Project Runway online every week.  I let him watch it with me because I think it is good for him to see the process of designing, picking out fabrics, working out the details and actually sewing the garments.  There is a bit of drama, but really not that much in the grand scheme of things.  Yesterday, we watched and episode and then in the evening, I looked over at his art table and he had sketched this girl in a dress on the paper on his clipboard.  I asked him about it and he told me that it was a girl wearing a dress, like they do on Project Runway.  I loved it!  His use of color is always so interesting.

Alex has really been into drawing lately, so I made a little compilation of some of the drawings.  As you can see there is somewhat of a marine theme.

Anglerfish

Alex's version of an anglerfish, as seen in "Finding Nemo".  Interestingly, he did not have a photo which he was using as a guide.
