Peas

The first peas from the garden were picked today.  Wish we had a bigger plot for them.  The kiddos can hardly wait for them to get big enough to eat.  Today, they each got one!

Tomatoes

We have been harvesting some tomatoes and this week since we had quite a few, I decided to oven roast them with olive oil and salt at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes and then we put them on a pizza crust with pesto and mozzarella.  Yum!  They were so sweet and tangy.

What's in the Garden Now?

We harvested the first of the tomatoes this weekend and put them in a salad with the first of the green beans. We blanched the green beans and then marinated them in a balsamic vinaigrette and sliced up the cherry tomatoes.  Yum!

Carrots in the Garden

This afternoon we picked our carrot harvest to make room for some other veggies for the summer season.  We planted the carrots in the Fall and they were a bit squished in a container, but we still managed to get some decent sized carrots.  The kiddos have been pulling them and eating them for the past couple of months and we decided to just pull the rest and cook them this weekend.  They were having a fun time hanging out on their lawn chairs on this nice afternoon, telling jokes and looking at the moon too.

The Snack Garden

Alex and Julia love those snap peas direct from the garden.  They love the hunt of looking for some that are ready to be picked.  The other day when I was making dinner, I looked out and they were laughing and chatting in the garden, eating peas.

Lemons!

It took awhile, but we have lemons!  I think that we counted about 5 in all.  Yay for fresh Meyer lemons.  If only you could smell them.  Delish.
